Late Night Video: See first moments of Jason Collins’ return to NBA as openly gay man
Caught some history earlier tonight while doing cardio at the gym.
The television at Body Builders gym in Silver Lake had the Lakers game on and they were playing the Brooklyn Nets.
During the second quarter, Jason Collins entered the game for the Nets – the first time the NBA vet was playing in a game since coming out last April.
Earlier in the day, he had signed a 10-day contract with the Nets.
Collins played 11 minutes in the Nets’ 108-102 win over the Lakers, going scoreless but picking up two rebounds, a steal and five fouls.
He tweeted after the game: ‘What a day! Great win tonight @BrooklynNets over my hometown @Lakers. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey.;
Collins is a 35-year-old 12-year NBA veteran.
