Lady Gaga was glorious on Oscar show

Judging from what I’ve been reading on social media, plenty of people felt like last night’s Oscars show was flat overall.

I was so busy writing I didn’t have that feeling although I often wonder how thrilling people expect handing out make-up, editing, costumes, short films and other such categories to be.

This isn’t the Golden Globes with a zillion acting categories after all.

Anyway, no one can argue about the stupendous performance of Lady Gaga and her tribute to the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music. It earned her a standing ovation and a heartfelt hug from Julie Andrews who she introduced after the performance.

Gaga hit all the right notes in the film’s title song as well as Edelweiss, My Favorite Things and Climb Every Mountain.

4 Remarks

  1. She was the best thing about the Oscar show last night.

  2. When I was watching last night, the sound wasn’t in sync with the picture, so I thought this was a parody, with her imitating Julie Andrews. But when she got a standing ovation, I knew then that it was in fact her singing and your are right, it was glorious! What a voice! She is so talented! If only I could get use to seeing her with her tattoos. I guess I am old fashioned.
Great coverage, Greg, of the 2015 Oscars. You always outdo yourself with all of your postings! Thank You!

  3. When Lady Gaga started out in the industry I couldn’t stand her. Then when she started singing with Tony Bennett I found her voice beautiful. Last night she did a glorious and beautiful job on songs from one of my favorite musicals. If they were to every make a remake of The Sound of Music then I’d want her to play Maria.

  4. I have never liked her..too much of a caricature…but she wasn’t horrible Sunday night. But, I too, find the tattoos a distraction, and glaringly wrong for Anyone who performs in public, as it takes attention away from the performance…especially when tattoos are Not in character (Tyler Posey!)…in this case, inappropriate for the music and the dress, and should have been covered up.
