Karen Carpenter was born 66 years ago today

Love me some Karen Carpenter – always have and always will.

So every year on her birthday and on the anniversary of her death I like to remember her here on the blog.

Today would have been Karen’s 66th birthday and I’ve found two clips of her playing the drums which she did regularly until she was forced to come out from behind them and sing front and center.

There’s also a video of her singing the 1975 Carpenters hit Only Yesterday which my brother had bought as a single at the JC Penny in Huntington Beach.

I loved it then, I love it now.
