Judith Light reflects on her LGBT activism
This interview is a few years old but I just came across it and wanted to share. About 12 years ago or more, Judith Light appeared at Outfest with the cast of a new show called Ugly Betty. When she was introduced, the audience clapped, and clapped, and clapped, and clapped, and clapped. Some stood. It was a prolonged and heart-felt ovation that I didn’t fully understand at the time but nevertheless was struck by. There was a lot of love in the room for the actress who was then best-known for her long stints on the sitcom Who’s the Boss and the soap One Life to Live. It was on that day that I became aware of just how much Judith had done for the LGBT community – for so long – and why she is so beloved. From the early days of the AIDS epidemic to now, she’s done so much. In this video, she talks about her activism and how it came about.

I’m glad she’s getting the credit for her tireless work over the years. I hope the larger community is made aware of this as we move forward.

I’ve loved this actress since OLTL for her acting, sometime later I learned of her being a friend of Dorothy. Really awesome lady.
