Joan Rivers in critical condition in NYC hospital – legendary comic stopped breathing during throat surgery

Legendary comedienne Joan Rivers stopped breathing during a throat operation earlier today

The 81-year-old was having her vocal cords operated on at an outpatient clinic when complications arose and was rushed to a New York hospital where she is reported to be in stable but critical condition.

‘This morning, Joan Rivers was taken to The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, where she is being attended to,’ said hospital rep Sid Dinsay.

‘Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support. We will provide an update on her condition as it becomes available.’

Melissa Rivers is flying from LA to New York to be with her mom.

Rivers currently stars in the popular E! series Fashion Police, the WE TV reality show Joan Knows Best and the online talk show In Bed With Joan.

She has recently been busy promoting her latest book Diary of a Mad Diva.
