Jesse Tyler Ferguson stunned by “the amount of vitriol” he’s endured because of his support of gay marriage
The election is tomorrow and it’s not a moment too soon.
Four states have marriage equality measures on the ballot Tuesday and Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson has been vocal in his support of same-sex marriage.
And there gas been some pushback.
The actor posted this on Facebook on Sunday: As an actor I have learned that I have to develop a thick skin but as a HUMAN I am having a harder time. The amount of vitriol I have received in the past few days over my stance on marriage equality could kill an adult horse! The majority of my fans have been amazing & supportive. But I am in shock and ashamed of many of my “fans” who are standing firm in their stance that I am “less than” them because of my sexual orientation. To those who feel this way: I gladly show you the door and wish you well on your journey.

Dan Davis says:
As a target myself of anti-gay bigotry, I always assume that anyone taking the time to indulge in vitriol is PG (Pre-Gay).
Shaxspar says:
Jesse, you are fighting the good fight, the same as the patrons of the Stonewall had to in 1969. Unfortunately, hatred and prejudice in the name of one or more religions will always keep this vitriol boiling, as fanatically as the conflicts among religions and sects of religions live on this hatred. For someone who is nothing to pretend he is someone, he has to tear down another — always in the “name” of some group.
