Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita are married!

A mighty big congratulations to Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita who got married in New York yesterday!

“Never been happier,” Jesse tweeted last night.

Although they live in California, they had long planned to marry in New York because it has been legal for same-sex couples to marry there since last year. Same-sex marriages resumed in California less than a month ago after a Supreme Court ruling.

Jesse explained on The View last month: “It wasn’t legal in California up until yesterday. Weddings are expensive, y’all, and we wanted to give that money to a state that accepted us as an equal. We’re too far down the planning path to change.”

The couple had been together two years when they became engaged last year.
