Jerry Seinfeld frustrated he can’t make un-PC joke about gay French prince’s hand gestures
Jerry Seinfeld doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with making a joke about cell phones in which he refers to a fictional gay French king with exaggerated hand gestures.
But an audience he told it recently made clear they were not amused.
‘I did this line recently in front of an audience … and they thought, “What are you talking about gay?” “What do you mean gay?” And I thought, “Are you kidding me?’ Seinfeld told Seth Meyers on NBC’s Late Night this week.
‘Comedy’s where you can like feel an opinion,’ he said. ‘I can imagine a time when people say “Well that’s offensive to suggest that a gay person moves their hand in a flourishing motion and you now need to apologize.” There’s a creepy PC thing out there that really bothers me.’
Seinfeld’s complaints about political correctness got the attention of the ladies of The View who discussed it during their Hot Topics segment on Thursday.
‘I think we’ve got to find other ways to be funny if that’s what it is. If you feel that it’s too hard to be funny without perhaps offending somebody, then maybe you should find some different stuff,’ said moderator Whoopi Goldberg.
She added: ‘There are consequences, and if you’re going to do it, have the balls to accept what happens when people don’t like it. It’s just the way it is.’

I agree with Whoopie. If your jokes fall flat, deal with it and adjust your routine. Humor changes all the time. What’s funny today isn’t necessarily going to be funny tomorrow.
On the other hand, I do think political correctness has run amuck and the so called outrage and backlash that’s reported in the media when someone makes a slight off color remark or joke is a bit over the top.

Saying political correctness has run amuck is putting it mildly. It’s getting so you can’t express an opinion anymore. It’s the curse of social media. Bob Costas is a good example. Woe be to anyone who has anything negative to say about Ms. Jenner. I am just as tired of hearing about her as I am the 600lb. people or hoarders.

Perhaps Jerry has been living in a cave since 1950 and doesn’t know that all gay men don’t use “flourishing hand gestures.” Does he also make jokes about lazy hispanics or black people eating watermelon? It has nothing to do with political correctness, it’s 2015, there is no humor in bigoted stereotypes.
Joe says:
I love Jerry Seinfeld and he is 100% correct. The PC nonsense has gotten way out of control.
Charlie says:
What is the matter Jerry, wouldn’t it be just as funny to run around telling jokes about Heterosexuals and how they take their privileges for granted, how they think that they are allowed to discriminate against a large group of taxpaying Americans, because of a few paragraphs that are cherry picked from a book that is older than the United States itself! Just a thought Jerry. Give it a shot. Should be hilarious!
