Janet Mock had a tremendous 2014 with best seller, new show, new magazine job and new fiance
It’s hard to blame trans author and activist Janet Mock for being utterly pleased with her 2014.
I think she is just tremendous and have ever since she guested on Piers Morgan’s CNN show early in the year. So much has happened for her since then and I saw what a great interviewer she is when she sat in as guest host of Larry King Now for a substantive chat with Tracee Ellis Ross.
Anyway, she took to Twitter on New Year’s Eve while drinking Prosecco wine and eating ribs with fiancee Aaron Tredwell to reflect on all that’s happened in the past 12 months.
She warned: ‘Feeling emo-reflective which is what one feels this time of year especially when Prosecco is pouring….so prepare for a flurry of tweets!’
Among the highlights:
‘In 2014, I published #RedefiningRealness, and b/c of my readers — largely on social media — it debuted on New York Times bestseller list.
‘In 2014, I became an editor at @marieclaire — the same mag where I first shared my story. We must be in these rooms!
‘In 2014, I created and launched my own show #SoPOPular with @shiftmsnbc discussing the cultural matters I love. http://janetmock.com/tv/
‘In 2014, Aaron put a ring on it & I said yes. I will end the year w/ him & @CockapooCleo in our living room eating ribs + drinking prosecco.
‘Finally in 2014, I learned we’re the heroes we’ve been waiting for & our vision is as valid as our reality.’
