Janet Jackson to chair benefit (The Foundation for AIDS Research during Milan Fashion Week
There are reports out today that Janet Jackson is planning to write a “tell-all” book about her family. She may be writing a book but my guess is it will be tasteful and classy like her. She’s been the one Jackson it seems who has conducted herself with dignity and obviously has achieved major success as an artist.
Will update with any more details that come up about this reported book.
What I’m really excited about is that Janet is teaming up with amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research) for an inaugural benefit held in conjunction with Milan Fashion Week, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Janet, Grammy award winner and an activist in the fight against HIV/AIDS, will chair an event for the foundation that will feature dancing, cocktails, dinner, a live auction and a burlesque performance by Dita Von Teese. AmfaR’s inaugural benefit for AIDS research will take place on September 28 during Milan Fashion Week.
I got to meet Jent last year at the GLAAD Media Awards and I asked her about her work for HIV-AIDS and her relationship with her gay fans. Here is part of what she said: “Even when I was younger, when I was growing up, my mother was very religious but there were a lot of kids who were dancers that she brought into the home and now that I think about it, think back, they were gay. They all called her mother and she treated every one of them like they were her children. And that’s where it kind of started I suppose and I’ve been around the community all my life.”

I adore Janet Jackson and her leaving the music business will be a sad loss. Their family has made a great impact on music from since I am able to remember.
