Jane Velez-Mitchell’s show canceled by HLN
I had a good gab with Jane Velez-Mitchell a few years back at an event and thought she was mighty cool.
So I’m sad to hear that her nightly show on HLN has been canceled and her entire staff let go.
HLN and CNN are having massive layoffs (about 1,500 expected) over the next few weeks.
Jane is one of the most high-profile gay persons in TV each night and I hope she will be able to land on the air somewhere else soon.
During our chat in 2012, she told me
she has not had a single regret since going public about her sexuality.
‘We are part of the culture, we are part of the fabric of America and we should celebrate that,’ she said. ‘People think your sexual orientation is about sex. Even if it is a little bit about that, it’s also about identity. I really feel proud to be comfortable in my own skin and to hopefully create and be part of chain reaction. I was inspired by other people and I might inspire someone else.’

when it was court TV, I watched all the time. Now hln now has changed the people, so I am going to change the channel. Little by little, it has gone down.
It is so boring now.

Joanne and Joe, I totally agree with you. I have just noticed the quality of HLN within this year. Maybe they hired someone that doesn’t know how to run the station. Jane was doing a great job! HLN, please put Jane back on TV very soon or I’ve got to change the channel. No Jane…NO HLN!

I loved Jane Velez Mitchell and her show- it was all I ever watched on HLN. Yet nabcy grace is still on???? Somebody at HLN made a big mistake. I hope she gets another show somewhere else. I will watch!
Really miss her balanced coverage and we need more shows that emphasize environmental and animal rights. Get rid of nancy grace rantings and put Jane back on!

Please put Jane back on. She is the only program I would watch on HLN like many others. She is not biased, Nancy Grace is.

HLN are you kidding me?? Jane Velez-Mitchell’s show was the main reason I started tuning in to, and continued to tune into your network for the past three years!! In my opinion, the executives at HLN have underestimated her value to their network and to her viewers as well! Her unbiased and straight forward, no nonsense approach to reporting the news, and women’s issues,(ie…The war on women, and animal rights)etc. Topics that are extremely important to a high percentage of the population! Nancy Grace may be good at what she does, but, she belittles her staff and guests at times, plus her prima donna attitude is unprofessional, and slightly narcissistic! Looks like cutbacks in your programming won’t be the losses HLN will be dealing with, what about the ratings?

How much forensic files could we watch? I was surprised to see the show cancelled, I put on Janes show to see the most current news of the country’s cases that are going on now. (Scott Petterson, Casey Anthony, Jodi Arias etc)
She will be missed!

I really liked her show. She was upfront. Get rid of Nancy Grace! All she does is run her mouth and she is RUDE. Put Jane back.

Huge mistake dropping Jane..as their ratings will surely reflect!!!!…and they have the nerve to run trailers that HLN fans asked for more canned,,(read CHEAP)… Forensic Files .. I see enough of those on the weekends. She will land somewhere..she’s too popular!!!

THE “FORENSIC” SHOW IS VERY BORING – WHY CHANGE SOMETHING GOOD WITH THIS AWFUL SHOW? BIG MISTAKE!!
YOUR AUDIENCE WILL CERTAINLY AVOID HLN IN THE EVENING UNTIL YOU HAVE A DECENT INFORMATIVE SHOW.

I love JVM…she is passionate about animal and environmental issues…she’s a great journalist…and I will miss hearing her points of view…no one on the air is like her…hope she gets a new show soon…she really deserves another chance!

I agree with many of the people who have posted their views. She is an incredibly good journalist who presents both sides of every story she has covered. Bring her back!!!! She is unbiased and incredibly thorough.

Some viewers were still watching Jane Velez-Mitchell, Nancy Grace and Dr. Drew. Now that Jane’s shiw has been cancelled, HLN hS only two shows worth watching. What happened over there at HLN? You cancelled the “Court TV” shows and lost viewers. Your Forensic Files shows are boring – to ssy the least. Why don’t you just go off the air? Your lineup is not worth watching.

I agree I really enjoyed Jane’s show,she was always informative and touched many topics. I also agree that between Nancy and Jane, Nancy’s show should have been dropped, her show is very predictable, long and repetitive. Regarding Dr. Drew, he is a psychologist, I believe, the way his show is done is really not professional, it is like watching the remnants of Nancy’s show. Too bad, but you have a lost a faithful viewer.

I totally agree. I stopped watching Nancy Grace because of her narcissistic personality. She is rude and insulting to her guests. I don’t understand why HLN keeps her. Maybe she has a lifetime contract? She has such a high-and-mighty attitude. Bring back Jane and cancel Nancy, then I will go back to watching HLN.

vitality, personality, mega compassion for people and animals,
a sunny positive outlook and her show was INTERESTING!
Many people I know have similar opinions and do not watch HLN
now. It seems the best people are no longer on your station…

articulate personalities with COMMON SENSE ? You should go find them!

I don’t understand why hln insist on changing it’s format from court and news to whatever the hell it’s doing now!! seriously you have canceled all of the shows that made you guys worth watching and now JVM! she is the only reason i would still watch for the one hour out of the day and now she’s gone!! i don’t think it’s a ratings problem it’s a management problem!! instead of changing great programming you should amplify it headline news with ryan smith, now in america with vinnie politan live court coverage, and hln after dark were all great shows and you’ve dropped them!! bad bad move now JVM!! i can honestly say as a viewer who kept the channel on hln all day even while at work i can honestly say i’m DONE i guarantee that at this rate HLN won’t be relevant at all in the near future!! GOODBYE HLN!!!

Loved hearing Jane Velez-Mitchell on HLN at 7:00pm. Her comments were always accurate and such a humanterian ! Hopefully, she will return on a better station !

So sorry that Jane’s show was cancelled. I don’t know what HLN is doing, but the programming is AWFUL now. Stories that no one cares about, and they don’t even cover important news stories good. So much for Head Line News. I just watch Nancy and Dr Drew now, and they will probably cancel them before to long so they can put on more repeats of Forensic Files.

I can’t understand dropping JVM AND THIS GARBAGE SHOW ON TUESDAY NITE AT 10PM U SUCKERS PUT ON THE AIR NEEDS TO GO ASAP. I hated to see Jane, her crew, and the entire show cancelled. I love Nancy Grace, but HLN is NOT the same without Jane! What a bummer! Then, you put on another talk show in her place that was garbage! PURE garbage! I turn to a different network at 7 p.m. now! Jane did so much on the Jodie Arias trial—what a great reporting spell! You lost such a great talent! I hope ISIS hunts down the one who got rid of Jane—he or she deserves the worst!

Where did Mike Brooks go. He probably quit after that lame brain Nancy Graceless threw him under the bus and turned on the tears for poor Michael Brown.
