“Into the Woods” nominee Meryl Steep extends her own Oscar record with her 19th nod

Meryl Streep probably isn’t going to win her fourth Oscar this year (Patricia Arquette seems destined to take the supporting prize) but her nod for Into the Woods is already historic.

Meryl picked up her 19th acting nomination this morning – the fourth time in the supporting category to go along with 15 nods for lead actress. She extends her own record over Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson with 12 nods each.

Miss Hepburn is the only person to ever win four Oscars for acting. Meryl could share that record if she wins this year or in a future year. Streep and Hepburn are two of the six people to win at least three Oscars for acting. The others are Ingrid Bergman, Walter Brennan, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Nicholson.

2 Remarks

  1. Bette Davis was the first person to have 10 nominations. Just don’t want that to be overlooked.

  2. I get the feeling that in 75 years they’ll STILL be nominating her DNA samples for an Oscar.
