In a thoughtful interview, Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal reflects on “the most unexpected title”
I’ve probably watched nearly all of the record 21 grand slam finals won by Rafael Nadal and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen him more deeply happy and satisfied than he is with his most recent Australian Open victory.
He’s 35, was coming off a six month absence from the tennis tour due to a foot injury, and had not won a grand slam title since the 2020 French Open.
I thought Daniil Medvedev would beast Nadal in four sets but the Spanish superstar dug deeper than I’ve ever seen him dig and found a way.
This day after interview shows his immense joy and his classy words about Medvedev show, once again, what a gentleman Rafa is.
