“I Love Lucy” Friday: In Hollywood, Ricky schemes with Lucy to get mentioned in Hedda Hopper’s column
Poor Ricky Ricardo.
He’s in Hollywood trying to become a movie star and he can’t even get a mention in Hedda Hopper’s column. Hedda, or course, was the famous and powerful gossip columnist who wore very big hats.
Rather than sit idly by, Ricky agrees to pretend Lucy from drowning in the hotel swimming pool just as Hedda is walking by. Things do not go as planned.
This episode features one of the funniest performances from Kathryn Card as Lucy’s mother Mrs. McGillicuddy, Her cackle at the beginning of the first clip is a hoot. She played the role in seven episodes but what I did not realize is that her first appearance on the show was in another role: Minnie Finch.

Greg,
As much as I enjoy reading your blog, proofing your writing before posting would be an improvement.
