“I Love Lucy” Friday: Desi Arnaz Jr. and Lucie Arnaz sing moving tribute to their mom at Hollywood event

We all know that nothing else Lucille Ball – or anyone else for that matter! – did on television will ever match those magical six seasons she and Desi Arnaz Jr. did of I Love Lucy.

But the television legend did keep working in situation comedy throughout the 60s and 70s with her follow-up sitcoms The Lucy Show and Here’s Lucy. What was most special about the latter series was that it also starred her and Desi’s children Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr.

Both kids are quite talented and had their share of showbiz success and it was clear how proud their mom was of them. Their love and affection for her was quite evident in this television tribute to Miss Ball in 1974 – a decade after Here’s Lucy had left the air.

They perform a ballad version of the I Love Lucy theme song with special lyrics written for the occasion. A tearful Miss Ball later tells the audience: “My eyelashes are floating.”
