Hillary Clinton officially supports gay marriage
Hillary Clinton, no longer Secretary of State, has come out publicly in favor of gay marriage for the first time.
It’s a surprise to no one that she feels this way but it is nice to finally here her say she backs gay marriage both “personally and as a matter of policy and law.”
She says her views have been shaped over time by people she knows, experience in public office etc.
We all know what has really happened is that it is now less politically risky for a politician to come out for marriage equality so this is not as heroic a statement as it would have been 4-5 years ago.
Still, it’s great.
