Happy Elton John is out promoting latest album is a ‘joyous rock and roll record’

An upbeat Elton John paid a visit to Ellen DeGeneres on Monday to chat up his latest album – his 33rd – which he describes as being filled with ‘joyous rock and roll.’

What has the Rocket Man feeling so darned happy these days?

Marriage to David Furnish and their sons Zachary,5, and Elijah, 3.

‘If you’d have said to me ten years ago I’d be sitting on your show married to the man I loved and have two beautiful children, I’d say you had put acid in my drink,’ Elton told Ellen.

‘But life throws you challenges and life throws you curve balls, and great curve balls, and these two children have came along at a time when I never thought I’d have children. They are the greatest thing in our lives. There’s no words to describe how much we love these boys. They are just amazing.’

Of his many hits, the boys like Rocket Man, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart and Bennie and the Jets best but they ‘are more interested in their Lego’ than what daddy does for a living.

‘Which is fine by me,’ Elton says.

His new album, Wonderful Crazy Night, is out February 5 and reflects his happy state.

‘I wanted to write a joyous rock and roll record with very happy lyrics because I was feeling very happy and it all turned out exactly how I wanted it to be.’
