Happy Birthday to Sam Champion!
Sam Champion is a part of so many people’s day as the weather anchor on ABC’s top-rated Good Morning America so it’s nice to have him out and proud at this point in his life and career.
Since GMA’s ratings have only grown in the past year, it’s safe to say that having one of its hosts come out publicly as gay last fall did not hurt the show’s popularity – or Sam’s!
And to be able to share his wedding to photographer Rubem Robierb in December further cemented his relationship with viewers.
Sam, who turns 51 today, does more than he knows for all the gay people watching – and some are teens or younger. They see a happy, successful man living his truth and being accepted by his peers and his audience.
It’s a beautiful thing.

I was wondering why Sam was absent from GMA the past two days, and now I know he was celebrating his birthday.
Also, glad GMA is doing so incredibly well in the ratings, especially at TODAY’s expense. I was a faithful watcher of TODAY until their horrible treatment of Ann Curry, and now I enjoy GMA with two great role models for LGBT youth.
