Happy Birthday to Jake Silbermann!

As the World Turns is long gone and so are Luke and Noah.

When we last saw these two beloved daytime characters, they were no longer lovers but Noah’s love for Luke was clear as he tried to help him through the death if Reid.

Noah, of course, was played by actor Jake Silbermann who had to put up with some wacky storylines over the years from going blind and Luke falling in love with his surgeon to the arranged marriage to a girl from Iran to his wacko father who tried to kill Luke and kept coming back from the dead.

“Any script we get, you try and find what resonates with you,” Jake told me when we chatted in 2008. “It is a soap so there are outlandish things that happen but that’s the fun of it.”

The toughest part was when the writers would have Noah turn his back on Luke (Van Hansis). You never believed he meant it because usually it was not plausible. But Silbermann always gave his best and he made us care about Noah and want the best for him.

What I will always most appreciate was the way Jake handled playing a high-profile gay role that called for a lot of kissing and physical affection and emotional honesty.

He always treated the subject with the utmost respect.

“I’m really proud to be a part of that kind of storyline, that kind of history,” he told AfterElton in 2007. “It is kind of a milestone for daytime television. As an actor, you hope you can play a role with meaning, but I never even hoped it would have this kind of significance, so I’m thrilled.”

Jake, who turns 28 today, most recently produced and wrote the script for the short film Stuffer which is being shown at film festivals.

6 Remarks

  1. Talented actor, terrific guy! Happy Birthday, Mr. Silbermann.

  2. Jake is amazing! Have been a fan for years. So glad things are going well STUFFER.

    Happy Birthday, Jake!

  3. Wow, what a nice, thoughtful article. Thank you. I’m a huge fan, and always felt that Jake never got the credit he deserved for a tough role to play. And is silly as some of the storylines got, both he and Van Hansis treated Luke and Noah with a lot of dignity and respect, and they had mad chemistry together.

STUFFER is really amazing, and I know Jake will continue to do great things. Happy Birthday, Jake!

  4. Okay first thing it says that Ameera was from Iran but she was from Irak and instead of saying “Noah’s love for Luke was clear as he tried to help him through the death of Reid” it said “Death if Reid” I that’s stupid to point out but it just has to be someone to say the stupid non-important things 🙂

  5. Jake, Happy Birthday! All the best.

  6. U SHOULD MARRY VAN
