Happy Birthday to Chaz Bono!
What a life it has been for Chaz Bono who turns 41 years old today.
Last summer, this LGBT advocate and author announced to the world that he was transitioning from the female Chastity Bono to a man named Chaz Bono. The only child of Cher and Sonny Bono had his breasts removed this fall and begun testosterone treatments.
I felt so happy for Chaz and also that he is so articulate and open about his journey because I am quite sure it is helping other transgender people out there who believe they were born the wrong sex. It is also helping other people to understand just what they are going through.
“Once I began to actually deal with [my identity issues], everything in my life got easier,” he told People in December. “I’m a better version of myself. I’m much more present now and more engaged. … It’s hard for me to articulate how this feels – when you’ve lived your whole life and have everyone relate to you as something you don’t feel. When that finally gets righted, it’s amazing. I finally get to live my life the way I’ve always wanted to.”

Chaz Bono took the easy way out. It is much easier to be a fat man than it is to be a fat woman. Had he continued being a woman, he would had to work much harder at acceptance. Now, he gets the best of both worlds and doesn’t have to work at getting people to accept his fatness. Bah!
