Happy 83rd birthday to Toni Tennille!
Toni Tennille, who was one half of the pop duo Captain & Tennille, turns 83 today and is still going strong. She recently starred in a regional production of Hello, Dolly!, in Arizona where she lives and I wish I could have seen it.
Teamed with her late ex-husband Darryl Dragon, the pair had a long string of hits in the 70s including Love Will Keep Us Together, Muskrat Love, Do That To Me One More Time, Shop Around, The Way That I Want to Touch You, Lonely Night and Can’t Stop Dancin’.
The marriage long but apparently not a very happy or intimate one, Tennille shared in her 2016 memoir. They divorced in 2014 after 40 years of marriage but they remained close enough that when Dragon became ill with kidney failure in 2017, Tennille returned to his side to care for him in the final two years of his life.
Happy birthday to this extremely talented women and bright light in the entertainment world!

Victor says:
Oh, I remember The Captain and Tennille.
Yes, I am old BUT seasoned.
Let’s just say that after 40 years of marriage, you have a bond. Yes, divorced but just think of all time they spent together. Would I be at my ex’s side if their health took a turn and I could be of help? In a heartbeat. This is not the time for pettiness and grudges. I have always been the type of person that I would never wish ill on my enemies. I am sure that The Captian passed away with a smile on his face.
It just came to me. I had a partner at one time and we separated. A few months down the road I heard that he was in the hospital due to his irregular heartbeat. I jumped into protective mode and was at his bedside. I still had the key to the house and remembered the security code-his birthday. I told him I would take care of everything. I brought everything to the hospital. Let’s just say he was high-maintenance and unyielding in his daily routine. You would think he was moving in. Let’s just say the staff had no doubt he was gay and I was the wife. Now this was a little unnerving for him because he always had an issue with folks knowing/thinking he was gay. For me, I couldn’t give a flip.
