Happy 81st Birthday to Stephen Sondheim!

It’s American composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim’s 81th birthday today!!!

What would our lives be without the lyrics to West Side Story and Gypsy? Then there are the music and lyrics from Follies, Company, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park With George, Into the Woods, A Little Night Music and so many more classic shows.

One thing I did not know about this eight-time Tony winner was that he came out as a gay man relatively late in life – at the age of 40. He first lived with a partner when he was 61. It’s never too late!
