Happy 80th birthday Bette Midler!

Whether it’s as Winifred Sanderson (Hocus Pocus), Dolly Levi (Hello, Dolly!), C.C. Bloom (Beaches),  Dixie Leonard (For the Boys), Brenda Morelli-Cushman (First Wives Club) or Mary Rose Foster (The Rose), today’s birthday girl Bette Midler, has inhabited an unforgettable series of indelible characters on screen and stage.

But the most unforgettable one of all is an exaggerated, bawdy version of herself: The Divine Miss M!

Along the way, this entertainment legend has conquered Broadway, Las Vegas, the film, television, and music industries with number one box office hits and number one records. She’s won three Grammys, three Emmys, two Tonys, and been nominated for two Oscars. She’s also won four Golden Globe Awards, including one for her performance in the superb 1993 television remake of the musical Gypsy.

So much to mention when it comes to Bette. All the hit records (Wind Beneath My Wings, From a Distance, The Rose), more hit movies (Ruthless People, Big Business, Outrageous Fortune, Down and Out in Beverly Hills), and such memorable gigs as her days performing at the Continentals Baths in NYC and being Johnny Carson’s final guest on The Tonight Show.

There’s so much more as Bette is multi-talented and prolific and I’ve been at least interested in pretty much all she’s ever done!

Below is a random series of videos celebrating the icon on her 80th birthday.

Enjoy!
