Happy 57th Birthday to Ellen!
Ellen DeGeneres just keeps getting better and more popular and, I think, is an inspiration to us all.
As she turns 57 today, her daytime show has never been more buzz-worthy or Ellen more comfortable in her own skin.
Ellen displayed her grace and class recently when Larry Tomczak wrote in a Christian Post column: “Ellen DeGeneres celebrates her lesbianism and ‘marriage’ in between appearances of guests like Taylor Swift to attract young girls.”
Ellen addressed this on her show and described her true agenda: “The only way I’m trying to influence people is to be more kind and compassionate with one another.”
She then jokingly “brainwashed” the audience with her message to the youth of the world. “I want you to live your lives being exactly who you are. Be true to yourself — the most important thing is to be true to yourself.”

Larry says:
Growing up I had never seen a gay person before, Ellen was the first openly gay person that I had ever known. I can honestly say she saved my life.
K. Martinez says:
Wow! Maybe I need a new perspective on what other gay people went through growing up. I grew up in the Bay Area during the 1960’s-70’s and had seen plenty of gay people in person. In addition they were open about it. My parent’s had a couple of gay friends that I also remember. I came out to my parents at 16 and had a fuck you attitude towards homophobes before I even knew the term homophobe. Guess I was fortunate.
Anyway. Happy Birthday, Ellen!
