Happy 50th birthday to Neil Patrick Harris!

Neil Patrick Harris is only 50?

He’s been a star for so long (Doogie Howser M.D., Clara’s Heart) that I figured he’d be at least 75! A five-time Emmy winner and a Tony winner, he has accomplished so much on screen and on stage and really made the most of his opportunities.

His most famous roles include Doogie, Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother, Count Olaf on the Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events, the title character in Joss Whedon’s musical Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (2008), a fictional version of himself in the Harold & Kumar film series, and the title role in the Broadway musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He is currently starring in the wonderful series Uncoupled as a suddenly single gay man. The show has been picked up for a second season which will likely be delayed due to the ongoing writers strike.

NPH’s film roles include include Starship Troopers, Beastly, The Smurfs, The Smurfs 2, A Million Ways to Die in the West, The Matrix Resurrections, and Gone Girl (2014) and other Broadway credits include Proof, Assassins, Cabaret and a recent month-long stint in Peter Pan Goes Wrong. He was also one of the stars of the national tour of Rent in the 1990s.

These photos showcase some of his famous roles. He, of course, is married to actor David Burtka and Their son and daughter were born on October 12, 2010.
