Happy 38th Birthday to Colton Haynes!

Colton Haynes, the beautiful actor who was a regular on the hit shows Teen Wolf and Arrow, turns 38 today.

I hope he is having a happy birthday!

The first time I ever saw him was, I believe, at a BAFTA TV event in 2010 and he was doing a press line with some of his castmates from the short-lived ABC series The Gates. He seemed kind of shy and not wanting to draw attention to himself. I was aware that he had appeared in a gay youth magazine called XY when he was younger and people seemed determined to out him or have him confirm his sexuality. So ghastly. I felt for him that day and wanted to say, ‘It’s okay. It doesn’t matter.”

But of course it mattered for a young man still trying to achieve success as an actor.

It was in May 2016 in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Colton came out publicly as a gay man. He shared that he had concealed his sexuality on the advice of entertainment industry insiders who said that being open about it would hinder his career.

He has suffered from anxiety all of his life and the public speculation caused hm to seek professional treatment.

Colton landed a role in Teen Wolf in 2011 and his celebrity grew then was cast in Arrow two years later.

But he had family troubles detailed in his deeply moving memoir Miss Memory Lane and has been sober since 2019 after completing a treatment program.

In recent years, Colton has had roles in the films Triumph, Swindler Seduction, Love …Reconsidered, and Teen Wolf: The Movie.
