Hanging out with some “Hot Guys With Guns” at last night’s Outfest launch party at Bloomingdales
A party inside a department store?
I was a bit dubious.
But I made my way to Bloomingdales at the Beverly Center anyway last night because it was the launch party for Outfest 2013 inside that department store and that, I never miss.
Got a glass of merlot and looked around the store. “Oh, there’s a shirt that might flatter me!” Price tag: $248! I’m so stunned I down the rest of my wine and quickly go for another glass.
So instead of shopping, focused on chatting up several of the filmmakers in attendance including Del Shores whose long-awaited big screen version of his beloved play Southern Baptist Sissies will make its world premiere at the fest.
Also talked to Darren Stein who is thrilled to have his film G.B.F. selected to close the festival at the Ford Ampitheatre.
And speaking of the Ford, the action-comedy Hot Guys With Guns (think Lethal Weapon if Mel Gibson and Danny Glover were gay – and former lovers) will screen there on Friday, July 19 and it was great to chat with writer-director Doug Spearman and snap a photo of him and cast members John Ainsworth, Darryl Stephens, Marc Anthony Samuel and Trey McCurley.
I look super shiny in the photo I took with Darryl because I had just gotten a free facial from a woman at the skin care counter who talked me into some $49 skin cream.
Anyway, will post my interviews with everyone in the coming weeks.
It turned out to be a terrific party even if I didn’t buy any new shirts!
