Gus Kenworthy and boyfriend Matthew Wilkas share a smooch on NY Eve in Times Square
After months of dropping hints on Instagram, Olympic free-skier Gus Kenworthy and actor Matthew Wilkas have gone public.
Kenworthy posted a photo of the couple kissing on New Year’s Eve in New York City’s Times Square.
Earlier in the night, Kenworthy had appeared on CNN’s live show with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin and the comic kissed the athlete on the lips before he made his escape.
Griffin has asked Kenworthy who he wanted to kiss at midnight and he said: ‘My boyfriend Matt’s here with me.’
Griffin’s response: ‘Buzz kill!’
Not everyone was as eager with the lips as Griffin. Kenworthy asked Cooper for a kiss – just one on the cheek – but the anchor declined saying he’d do it during a commercial.
Kenworthy came out publicly as a gay man this fall and recently told People magazine that he is in a relationship but that ‘it’s new.’
He did not name Wilkas but eagle eyes on Instagram noticed several hints when the two posted photos taken from the same rooftop in Colorado just hours apart. On another occasion, Kenworthy’s tattooed arm appeared in a video posted by Wilkas.
Wilkas is best known as the leading man in the film Gayby and most recently appeared in the comedy You’re Killing Me. He also appeared on Broadway in the musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.

Not a very passionate kiss. This drunk female stranger gave me a more passionate kiss on 1/1/2000.

Gus Kentworthy has such a beautiful smile. And he’s hot too!
