Greg’s Fourth of July snaps: friends, parties, and shirtless men on the busy Balboa Peninsula
I have not celebrated the Fourth of July on Newport Beach’s Balboa Peninsula since I lived there in the early 1990s. My pals Danny Sullivan and Lorna Harris – after a 12-year stay in the UK, moved back to the peninsula last year and I was among those who joined them for a fun and relaxing day.
And, as you can see in the photo above, you could not beat the scenery!
We had a very nice barbecue but our little party was nothing compared to what was going on directly across the street! There were three party houses filled with people who provided us with entertainment for hours – and hours. It reminded me a bit of fraternity row at San Diego State!
Lorna and Danny liveĀ life very in the moment – and like to Tweet about it too!
Newport Beach’s finest kept a friendly presence as they made their way around what was a very crowded neighborhood.
I would have to return my gay card if I were sitting with a camera in my hand and didn’t occasionally snap a photo of a hot guy or two! Lorna thought it was a bit stalker-like, I thought it was a lot of fun.
That’s me, a very proud and very gay American.
Friends Mark and Danny wonder what all the commotion is about across the street.

Danny Sullivan, so happy to be living in the USA!

Excellent pics. I to grow up behind the “orange curtain” and would often ride down from Seal Beach to Newport/Balboa on the weekends. Good times but damn the OC was so repressive in the 80′s.

Great post – I’ll tweet about it
