COCKTAILS WITH THE TV STARS: Compared with some of the more glitzy parties thrown by rival networks in recent days, ABC’s cocktail party yesterday in a ballroom at the Beverly Hilton Hotel was a low-key affair.

But it was no less star-studded and lots of fun.

For me the highlight was chatting with Josh Cooke [pictured with me, above) one of the stars of the promising new comedy Better With You.

I’ve been a huge fan of Josh since he starred in the 2005’s NBC sitcom Committed opposite Jennifer Finnegan. They had marvelous chemistry and it was a pity the show was canceled after just 12 episodes.

The good news is that Josh and Jennifer are reteamed in the new show once again playing a couple and that terrific comedic chemistry is still very much there! I’ll have an interview with Josh posted closer to the show’s premiere date.

At the party, he introduced me to Eileen Heisler who not only created Committed but is also behind the new ABC hit The Middle.

The belle of the ball was Dana Delaney who really looks to have a winner with her new show Body of Proof. What a wonderful showcase for this exceptional actress who most recently spent three seasons on Desperate Houswives and is a two-time Emmy winner for China Beach.

Dana, who plays a medical examiner on the new show, said it was her high-profile two-episode guest stint on her friend Nathan Fillion’s show Castle that led ABC executives to think of her for the lead in Body of Proof.

Before enjoying a glass of wine and some delicious ravioli inside of the party, I hovered outside and snapped some of the stars as they arrived.
