Greg in the Afternoon: Capt. Kirk gay in new movie? Project Runway lawsuit settled; video of cute nude man

I interrupted a busy workday to head downtown to meet two old LA Times friends for lunch at Felipe’s French Dip. It was great to see my pals Stuart and Brad again and to catch up anf to have one of those famous sandwiches. I’ve found the key is to have it double dipped. Just delish.

So, I’m a bit late with the afternoon news round-up but quite well fed. I’m also very intrigued by this” exclusive” story I’ve just read on AfterElton.com about the new Star Trek movie which has just been elevated to must-see status on Greg’s movie list! Brent Hartinger reports that in the film, Captain Kirk is bisexual! Brent writes that the “new Star Trek “prequel” movie due out in May, James T. Kirk, future commander of the U.S.S. Enterprise, is bisexual and in love with Spock, and hints that Spock may have loved him back. In one scene, Kirk shares a bed with Spock and kisses him on the lips, although the Vulcan does not seem to reciprocate. So no make-out scene which is a pity because Kirk is played by the gorgeous Chris Pine. The original Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and Kirk (William Shatner) both approve, according to AfterElton.

Of course I read this, totally enthralled. But as it gets more and more far-fetched, I remembered today’s date: April 1. Dammit! They got me.

RUNWAY RETURNS: Now this item is true no matter what today’s date: The lawsuit between NBC Universal and The Weinstein Company has been settled. That clears the way for the sixth season of the popular reality series, starring Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, along with judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. It will return this summer.

An official statement from NBC Universal states The Weinstein Company will pay NBCU for the right to move Project Runway to Lifetime with Harvey Weinsten stating is that lawsuit settlement language sort of way: “I want to personally congratulate Jeff Zucker and NBCU on their success in the litigation and thank Jeff for resolving this in a professional manner. We look forward to working together on our ongoing projects.

Lifetime President Andrea Wong said in that way no one really talks: “I couldn’t be more excited that Lifetime will bring its viewers an amazing, all-new season of Project Runway this summer. As the highest-rated cable network for women, Lifetime is the perfect home for this outstanding program, as well as its companion series Models of the Runway. All of us at Lifetime are thrilled to move forward with Heidi, Tim, Nina, Michael, The Weinstein Company and the entire Project Runway team.”
