Greg In Hollywood’s Best of Outfest!

I always enjoy the Outfest experience immensely but this year things were kicked up a notch because there were so many truly outstanding movies and performances.

Some thoughts: In C.O.G., Jonathan Groff proved that he can absolutely carry a movie and Pit Stop had one of the sexiest male love scenes that I’ve ever seen on film. The comedy Ass Backwards was the one of the most non-gay films I’ve seen at Outfest but it was hilarious and I loved what Doug Spearman was able to pull off with Hot Guys With Guns. The documentary God Loves Uganda taught me so much as did Keep the Promise: The Global Fight Against AIDS and The Battle of amfAR. Then there were movies that caught me by surprise and were just wonderful: The Happy Sad and The Go Doc Project.

I really hated To Heaven to be honest and the only times I wasn’t napping during Interior. Leather Bar were when there was explicit sex or James Franco on the screen.

In all, I saw 23 films and two program of shorts so my Greg In Hollywood Awards – Outfest Edition are only based on what I actually saw. There are still acclaimed films like Test, Born This Way, Who’s Afraid of Vagina Wolf and Out in the Dark that I plan to watch soon via screener and I will give them their due then.

Favorite Short: Summer Vacation (Runner-up P.D.A.)

Favorite Documentary: Bridegroom (Runner-up: I Am Divine)
