Greg In Hollywood covers the red carpet at American Music Awards: Kris Allen most relaxed star of all

These are some snapshots and interviews I did yesterday on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. Everyone is talking about Adam Lambert’s performance on the show but I want to shine a spotlight on the guy who managed to beat Adam to win the American Idol crown: Kris Allen.
With all the madness going on around him, Kris was a relaxed and low-key presence on the red carpet. He’s also modest and cute as a button!
Kris was a presenter on the telecast but he was not among the Idol alums chosen to perform. That group included Lambert, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.
The self-titled debut album by the fresh-faced Arkansan was released last week and somehow you get the feeling Kris will be just fine in the music biz and in life.
Here I am with the handsome Eduardo Xol of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. He told me he was most excited to see Mary J. Blige perform because she had been a celebrity guest on his show.
“I wanted to give her props for coming to help us out,” he said. “Selena Gomez, whose around here somewhere, is also one of the amazing celebrities who came to help these families this year. We wanted to reach out and ask people to come help us help other people. I just back from a show in Buffalo, New York, where we had the most amount of volunteers that we’ve ever had on our show in seven seasons. The fact we’re on television after seven seasons says something in of itself. We had 30,000 volunteers come and help and not only did we redo a house, we redid a neighborhood. And we couldn’t have done it without some of these celebrities who have come to help us out.”
So great to see the always glamorous Candis Cayne. Love her! She told me she was must excited to hear Adam Lambert sing live as well as Lady Gaga. “She’s always such a good performer and crazy.”
Paula Abdul was wearing this mermaid-like number that clearly made it difficult to walk unless she had a team of people carrying the bottom part of it. So high-maintenance!
Fergie is one sexy lady! I was happy to be able to snap this shot of the Black Eyed Peas singer as she walked by.
Former American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis posed for a quick snap for Greg In Hollywood. I could not stop staring at his hair trying to figure out exactly what was going on there. There were at least three colors – I think!
Said Blake: “I’m excited to see Janet Jackson and to see Adam Lambert out of the American Idol stage.”
My 10-tear-old niece is very excited that I snapped a photo of teen star Selena Gomez of Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place.
Grabbed a quick shot of the lovely Carrie Underwood as she made her way into the Nokia Theatre. She is always so classy and professional. I’m very impressed with her.
Jake and Ernie from Radio Disney were stationed just a few people away from me on the red carpet and got first dibs on interviewing any Disney-related stars like Selena Gomez.
Just a few years ago, Perez Hilton would’ve been doing the red carpet interviews. But on this night, sporting an elaborate blonde do, he was a presenter and was giving interviews.
R&B/Hip Hop music group Day 26 which was formed in
2007 by Sean “Diddy
” Combs in a handpicked selection at the end of MTV’s Making the Band 4.
The members of Rascal Flats chatting with the Radio Disney dudes. I didn’t get them but it made me remember my first AMAs 3-4 years ago at the Shtine Auditorium and saying to them something like: “Now who are you guys?” Duh.
The only time I’ve watched The Real Housewives of Orange County was when there was a marathon of season one and I was on vacation in Palm Springs. I remember getting sucked in and one of the reasons was this handsome guy named Wade who is now dating Gretchen.
“I think this season is going to be great for me,” Gretchen said on the red carpet. “It’s about me coming back and setting the record straight on some things. You’re going to see a different side of me this year.”
I decided that the site DListed can’t be the only blog in town to feature pics of
Phoebe Price so I snapped one of her and chatted her up – mostly about
DListed!
“Michael K is actually a really big fan of mine and I’m a fan of his,” she said. “I’ve never actually met him in person but him and my mom do communicate on occasion and I hope to see him and sit down and meet him – hopefully soon! I owe him a lot because he’s really helped push me to the next level and I’m very grateful.”
I think D-Listed is a hilarious site and I love it but I refused to call Phoebe by the nickname she is known by on there: Chicken Cutlets!
Phoebe’s film credits, according to IDMB, include The Junkyard Willie Movie: Lost in Transit, The Motor Lodge Rub and Strawberries for the Homeless.
She also has a line of hats and headbands and head pieces in more than 100 stores and she tells me she has a clothing line coming out in February.
There is no stopping Phoebe Price!
I don’t know this handsome guy’s name but decided he was very photogenic. He was part of the security detail and was stationed across from me the entire time on the red carpet. He was all business!
Adam Lambert was among the last to make his way down the red carpet and whizzed by us after doing his TV interviews. Little did we know what he had planned for about three hours later!
Cinn says:
Yeah, thanks for the info on Kris. He looked spectacular last night! His CD is amazing, his voice rich and gorgeous. Everyone go out and get it!
Lesley says:
Nice job, Greg! Blake Lewis looks like he has a skunk on his head. And don’t even get me started on Perez. Blech!
