Gotham Awards: LGBT-themed “Beginners” ties for best picture and wins best ensemble performance
The 21st Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards Winners have just been announced and the terrific Beginners was voted Best Feature (It tied with The Tree of Life).
The film stars a first-rate Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer in a story about a straight son and his dying gay father. The two leads also shared the Best Ensemble Performance award with castmates Melanie Laurent, Goran Visnjic, Kai Lennox, Mary Page Keller, and Keegan Boos.
Directed by Mike Mills and released by Focus Features, I saw a DVD screener of Beginners just last week and am rooting for it to continue to do well this award season.
