GOP VP pick Paul Ryan no friend of gays

Mitt Romney announced his VP pick today and it is congressman Paul Ryan from Wisconsin.
In case you are wondering why it is so difficult for gay people – even fiscally conservatives ones – to be Republicans and still look at themselves in the mirror, let’s take a look at Ryan’s record when it comes to LGBT equality:
** In both 2004 and 2006, Ryan voted for a federal marriage amendment that would have defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman everywhere in the United States.
** In both the 2009-2010 and the 2007-2008 legislative sessions, Ryan voted against hate crimes protections, which became law in 2009.
** In 2003, Ryan voted in favor of the Marriage Protection Act, which would have prevented federal courts from considering and possibly overturning the Defense of Marriage Act.
** Ryan did not support repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy in 2010 –– a measure that received votes in both May and December.
** In 1999, Ryan supported a ban on gay adoption in DC. He also opposed implementation of DC’s domestic partnership registry.
** Ryan has earned a 0% rating from the Human Rights Campaign, and a 90% rating from anti-gay hate group Family Research Council when he voted for 9 out of the 10 actions FRC supported.

Not surprising. It’s a given that 99% of them are beholden to the so-called Christians. In biblical times these people were referred to as Pharisees.
VDUFFORD says:
This Ryan fellow with his slightly contorted boyish face and a gaze that sometimes looks like as if he is about to do the Nazi salute to his beloved party. Already he has over shadowed the top of the ticket Romney. Soon I am sure he will show us his six pack to “please” any dumb ass that should care. This guy will give us new meaning to the word opportunist…buyer beware!
David says:
:ouch”……What a douche!!, not getting my vote.
Joe says:
I hope no one is surprised by this!
Lionhart says:
He looks like Howdy Doody. Didn’t Howdy Doody also have somebody’s hand up his ass to make him speak?
Lionhart says:
Oops…sorry. I think Howdy Doody was a puppet who had his strings pulled…same difference as a hand up his ass.
Drew says:
Let’s hope that ‘Sarah’ Ryan gives the same boost to the Republicans that Palin did four ears ago!
Mort says:
Whoever said ‘Politics is Hollywood for the ugly’ must have seen him coming.
FAEN says:
Ryan has stated that we should make law according to nature and god. If that isn’t a dog whistle to the tea party I don’t know what is. While Ryan seems vulnerable due to his budget not to mention, Romney now owning that budget, do not under estimate the tea baggers for they will come out en masse against President Obama. We have to continue registering citizens and if you live in states like Ohio make sure you have the correct documents to vote.
Obama/Biden 2012
FAEN says:
@Joe-not surprised that Romney picked a homophobe as his running mate but I thought it was going to be Portman. I still don’t understand the upside to picking Ryan other than he’s young and good looking…ish.
FAEN says:
BTW, Ryan is only releasing two years of his tax returns. That issue just got worse for Romney IMHO.
Marlana Waisath says:
Listen! If you accept that Obama will also provide Four billion retooling tax credits and loan guarantees for staeside automobile plants and parts manufacturers, so that the new fuel efficientcars can be built in the United States by domestic workers instead of overseas.
