Golden Globes Sunday: Queen Meryl Streep is nominated again – will she win her 9th tonight?

Meryl Streep is competing for a Golden Globe Award tonight for the 29th time.

Astonishing.

If she manages to win for her performance in Into the Woods, it would be her ninth Globe win – a record.

Her first Golden Globe Award nomination came in 1979 for her performance in The Deer Hunter. She didn’t win that year but she did 12 months later for Kramer vs. Kramer then again in 1982 and 1983 for The French Lieutenant’s Woman and Sophie’s Choice, respectively.

Who would have thought then that 20 years would pass before Meryl would win again – in 2003 for Adaptation.

During the two decades in between, she racked up a whopping 12 nominations with no wins for performances in such films as Out of Africa, Silkwood, A Cry in the Dark, One True Thing, The Bridges of Madison County and Postcards From the Edge.

After the Adaptation win, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was no longer denying Meryl and she won for Angels in America, The Devil Wears Prada, Julie & Julia and The Iron Lady.

She was nominated last year for August: Osage County.

Meryl always gives memorable speeches and below are some of them – enjoy!
