“Glee” star Chris Colfer talks about winning the Golden Globe and romance: ‘I’d love to meet a guy.”
The interview with Chris Colfer in USA Weekend is nice but the first sentence of the story is ridiculous: It has been almost 20 years since we’ve seen a gay teenage character on TV.
Okay, Wilson Cruz’s Ricky on My So-Called Life was nearly two decades ago but Wilson would be the first to point out that since then, there has been all kinds of gay teens portrayed on television including Jack on Dawson’s Creek, Justin on Ugly Betty, Andrew Van de Kamp on Desperate Housewives and on and on. That’s just a trio of network characters. There’s been gay teens on cable’s Queer as Folk, Greek, The Secret Life of the American Teenager and more.
That said, Colfer’s Kurt Hummel is exquisite as is the actor who plays him.
Here are some excerpts from Colfer’s chat with USA Weekend:
Winning the Golden Globe: “I was so shocked. I’ve had that dream so many times. I haven’t missed watching [the Golden Globes] since I was 8. I don’t even remember hearing my name or giving the acceptance speech.”
A role model. “One of the nicest things I’ve heard so far is how powerful it is to see a positive portrayal of a gay teenager on television. I get so many fan letters from people telling me their own coming-out stories. It’s so funny: You always hear that as an actor you’re not supposed to be open about your homosexuality. And now here I am, and I’m 20 years old and I’m myself and I’ve [won] a Golden Globe!
“Time for love. “I have no problem talking about my dating life because it is a short, short conversation [laughs]. I would love to be in a relationship, but I don’t have any offers! Truly! Fans, yes. Dates, no. Fingers crossed. I’d love to meet a guy.”

I hope you meet a special guy someday too, Chris Colfer! You deserve it! You are epically talented at both acting and singing, you’re humble, you’re funny, you’re beautiful- if you ask me any guy would be lucky to call you his significant other. =) I know I would (if I were a guy, that is). *sigh*
