On Tuesday, Chris Colfer sent his Twitter followers the following message: I have a big announcement coming soon! A project I’m very excited about!

A movie? An album? A cabaret show?

Nope. Nope. And nope.

The multi-talented Glee star, who recently turned 21, is adding the title of author to his already impressive resume.

He is writing a pair of novels to be published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.

The first is The Land of Stories which tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner Bailey. It is targeted for the 8-12 age group and will be released simultaneously in hardcover and e-book in the summer of 2012.

Colfer’s story will follow Alex and Conner use the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories to leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic.

It will be followed by a second untitled novel.

“When I was ten years old, I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to write this book, I would jump at the chance,” Chris said in a statement. “This book has been at the core of my imagination for a long time and I’m excited and nervous to share it.”
