Gay icon Cher turning to LGBT community to raise money for Hillary Clinton campaign

I was so caught up in Barbra Streisand fever last week that I forgot to mention to you all that I saw Cher two days earlier at the Greek Theatre! It as enough to make my gay head explode. She surprised us all when she joined headliner Michael MacDonald onstage for his finale Taking it to the Streets. Anyway, Cher will be making some more appearances this month but they won’t be a surprise as she turns to the LGBT community to raise money for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

The entertainment legend will appear in gay summer hotspots Miami Beach, Fire Island and Provincetown in the coming weeks.

Cher kicks her tour for Clinton off on August 19 in Miami Beach for a Hillary Victory Fund event where general admission is $250 but for $5,000 attendees can have their picture taken with the singer.

Clinton, now leading Republican opponent Donald Trump in various national polls, will not be in Miami Beach, Florida, or New York’s Fire Island where tickets also range from $250 to $5,000. But attendees only need to pony up $2,500 to get a photo with Cher at that event, according to Towleroad.

Clinton will be joining Cher on 21 August in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The $45 and $500 tickets are sold out at Provincetown but tickets priced from $2,700 to $27,000 remain available.

‘If you look at the community as a whole, Cher has been an icon in the gay community since the 60s,’ Tony Lima, a co-host of the Cher fundraiser and executive director of the Miami gay rights group Safeguarding American Values for Everyone, tells Politico.

‘Older gay men, from their 40s to the 70s, just love her.’

You know it!

Cher has been taking on Trump on Twitter during the campaign. Here is a sampling:
