Gay Hollywood pays tribute to Tab Hunter

Tab Hunter was so much more than a teen heartthrob—he was a celebrated actor, trailblazer, and an icon for the LGBTQ community. I had the distinct honor to be an interviewee and participant in his extraordinary 2015 documentary, Tab Hunter Confidential. Brad and I would like to extend our condolences to his husband, Allan Glaser. RIP, Tab. You will be sorely missed.

so sad to wake up to the news of the passing of tab hunter. i was honored to get to know him in the past year and am so grateful to have experienced his sheer joy and love of life. and what a life! such a rich experience. such a vital and generous nature. and such a pioneer of self-acceptance and moving through this world with authenticity as his guide. he will be missed greatly. may he rest in peace.

    Very Sorry to hear of Tab Hunter’s passing. We met and had a nice conversation two years ago at a screening and he was welcoming, friendly and a joy to behold. He was still beautiful and cordial; I introduced myself because he had always been a particular favorite. He could have not been more kind and generous in time and spirit and I’m grateful for our meeting. God Bless and good wishes to his many friends, family and Mr. Glaser.

    Another actor from the 50s. I always like Tab Hunter, sad i never ran in to him during my time in Palm Springs. Will deeply will miss him. Very handsome man.

    During the 1950s I used to watch Tab at our local cinema in Salisbury, capital of Rhodesia (now Harare in Zimbabwe.) Homosexuality was taboo in that country during that period and it used to bother me considerably why this Tab Hunter nearly drove me crazy with desire. Paul Newman had the same effect on me, as did Rock Hudson. Did any of you see Tab in ‘Battle Cry’? He was at his beautiful best, and it was actually a most captivating movie. His passing has filled me with nostalgia. I enjoyed reading his memoir….most of which came as a big surprise. Thanks for turning me on, Tab, and making me face my sexual orientation. Love from Vernon in Johannesburg.
