There are certain people who I really root for in the movie business and Gary and Larry Lane are two of them.

They are identical twins, both gay, who have made a wonderful documentary called Hollywood to Dollywood that will screen at next month’s Outfest Film Festival.

It will also play at Philadelphia QFest, North Carolina GLFF, and San Diego Film Out this summer as well as the American Documentary Festival in Palm Springs next March.

I watched the movie, directed and edited by John Lavin, over the weekend and I was so entertained and moved by it. It is wonderful and about so much more than the twins trying to personally deliver a script called Full Circle that they wrote for Dolly. It’s also about their personal journey as gay men, of accepting themselves and trying to integrate their lives in Los Angeles with their family life in North Carolina.

My full review will be posted next week as well as an interview I did recently with Gary Lane.

Anyway, I’m posting about the movie today because I want to draw attention to the KickStarter campaign the Lane twins have launched.

They did their film on a shoestring budget and are now trying to raise $20,000. In order to distribute their 79 minute feature on DVD, they need to pay for expensive color correction and music licensing for the 15 Parton songs featured in the film.

There are all kinds of fun items you get for the more modest contributions including T-shirts, a signed HD-DVD of the film and a movie poster.

But the goodies for the deeper pockets get really interesting.
