Furor over Joan Rivers overshadowed an even more deserving Elaine Stritch being slighted at Oscars
People were plenty pissed about Joan Rivers being left out of the Oscars In Memoriam segment but they should be even more pissed about the shocking exclusion of Elaine Stritch.
Stritch was the subject of an outstanding documentary just last year (Elaine Stritch: Just Shoot Me) and had more than 20 feature film roles in all – that’s more movies than Barbra Streisand!
They included acting opposite Rock Hudson in 1957’s A Farewell to Arms, having a lead role in Woody Allen’s September, a memorable role as Jane Fonda’s mother-in-law in Monster-In-Law as well as parts in Small Time Crooks, Romance & Cigarettes, Autumn in New York, Out to Sea, Cadillac Man , Providence, and The Spiral Staircase, among others.
Yes, she was a Broadway legend and a three-time Emmy winner. But she was also a movie actress who deserved that final recognition last night at the Oscars.

They could have kept showing people during the tribute song that that Hudson women sang.
Good God the show is already 4 hours whats another couple minutes to people who not only survived in this business for decades but also gave there lives to this crappy business? Shame on them especially for leaving out the great Joan Rivers. I think that the snub came directly from that awful lady that runs the academy. She needs to go sooner than later. What an awful person.
