From Hollywood to Dollywood to Leslie Jordan doc, the Lane twins keep busy as they celebrate birthday

It’s been a crazy day! I’m over at Gay Star News writing about Uganda and Arizona and my head is spinning.

But hey, you’ve got to make time for the things that matter – like special people in your life.

The Lane twins – that is Gary and Larry of Hollywood to Dollywood fame – are celebrating their birthday today and I wanted to publicly wish them a happy day and send a cyber hug to two of my favorite guys.

Gary and Larry recently saw their idol Dolly Parton in concert (pictured) during a stop on her Blue Smoke world tour.

The music icon has spoken well of the documentary Hollywood to Dollywood which screened at over 60 film festivals and won 25 best documentary awards. She also generously granted music rights for many of her songs – including versions of her biggest hits – which are part of the film’s soundtrack.

The twins told me recently that they thanked Dolly for being in the film (they meet her at Dollywood and present her with a movie script they wrote for her) and they also thanked her for allowing them to use her music in the film.

She said: “It was a lot, but we got it all done didn’t we.”

Meanwhile, these twin dynamos have moved on to their next passion project: a documentary about Emmy winner Leslie Jordan of Will & Grace and Sordid Lives fame.

What a GREAT idea!

The project is tentatively titled Leslie Jordan DOES Hollywood.

But the twins have not forgotten about Dolly reminding me that her new CD comes out in May and that anyone who wants to see her perform live should check out the tour stops at www.dollypartonmusic.net

They truly are fans for life!
