From AIDS crisis to Coming Out groups, a 40-Year LA LGBT Center volunteer reflects on his time serving community
My day job as a writer for the the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Marketing & Communications department calls for me to do stories on some pretty remarkable people.
My latest story is on Robert Harrison, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge who this month is marking his 40th anniversary as a volunteer at the Center. From the beginning, he has been a facilitator of various discussions groups including the coming out group.
“I’m here as long as they’ll have me,” he promises. “I learn so much. I get to meet people from whole other life histories and learn about their experiences. We get to figure out problems together.”
Here is a LINK to the story which is posted on the Center’s LGBT News Now blog.
Enjoy!
