Friday Morning Man: Tommy Haas!
Sure, the German star is movie star handsome and all, but he also had one of the most exciting games to watch – so much variety and athleticism.
Today is Tommy’s 42nd birthday and he’s like fine wine – getting better with age!
Tommy, now retired from the ATP Tour, is tournament director of the wildly popular BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells which was one of the first major events to be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. He also plays on the Champions Tour with other retired ATP stars,
Although Tommy was ranked #2 in the world in 2002, his career has often been plagued by injury.
But he never gave up and in 2015, Tommy became the oldest man to win a singles match at Wimbledon since a then-38-year-old Jimmy Connors in 1991.
