French skater Brian Joubert may not be the Olympic champion, but he sure is a beautiful man
Well, it seems the Winter Olympic Games are something that Brian Joubert, the 2007 world champion and three-times European gold medalist, simply cannot conquer.
A heartbroken Brian, one of the more popular Greg In Hollywood Morning Men, messed up his 2-1/2 minute program just seconds into the routine on Tuesday and is out of medal contention.
“It’s another disappointment at the Olympic Games. These Games have beaten me,” he told reporters in Vancouver. “I just can’t do it at the Olympic Games. Every time it goes badly. I don’t understand why. I can’t explain why.”
He was heavily penalized for missing out on the second part of his opening combination after he landed his quad awkwardly. His program completely unraveled from then on as he fell on the triple lutz and could barely look up at the giant screen at the Pacific Coliseum when his score of 68.00 flashed up — more than 22 points behind leader Yevgeny Plushenko.
At just 25, it would seem like Brian would have a really good shot at the Olympics four years from now. Whatever happens, he’ll always be a world champion!
