Fox makes it official: Wanda Sykes is on its fall schedule with new Satuday night show

Is there a hotter star right now than Wanda Sykes?

The newlywed and new mother of twins caused quite a stir at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner last weekend and is clearly at the top of her game. For the record: I absolutely DO NOT think Wanda went to far with any of her jokes at the dinner – especially those involving Rush Limbaugh. Wanda was being edgy and funny, I’m sure she doesn’t really want that horrible man’s kidneys to fail.

Anyway, I think Wanda’s  popularity has only grown since she announced publicly that she is a lesbian last fall. This should only help when The Wanda Sykes Show makes its debut on Fox on Saturday, Nov. 7. It will have a one-hour jump on Saturday Night Live so it will be interesting to see if it can put any kind of dent in SNL’s ratings. Nothing else has managed to in more than 30 years.

Fox made the deal last month but made the official announcement on Monday. Wanda will air from 11 p.m. to midnight and serves as a partial replacement for Fox’s canceled shows MadTV and Talk Show with Spike Feresten. Fox says the “high-energy one-hour show will feature biting commentary on topical issues and heated panel discussions with recurring personalities.”
