Fortune Feimster shares with Tamron Hall how her mother serves as inspiration for some of her stand-up

On yesterday’s Tamron Hall, the host welcomed Fortune Feimster fresh off of the premiere of her new action-comedy series, Fubar, which also stars Arnold Schwarzenegger. Feimster shared stories from the set and discussed her all new comedy tour. Feimster joked with Tamron about her new status as an action star and shared hilarious behind-the-scenes stories from her current tour, including several stories of how her mom serves as a major inspiration in her material.

Fortune on her new tour and how her mom inspired much of her material: “So it’s a brand new tour. It’s all new material so if you saw ‘Good Fortune,’ it’s a whole different act. I’m talking a lot more about my mom this time…She’s quite a character and people have gotten to know her through my podcast and other things and so whenever I tell stories about her, people love it. I have a story from ‘Sweet and Salty’ about going to Hooters and we had gone there my whole life and all of a sudden she has a new boyfriend who did not like Hooters. And she was like, ‘I have never eaten at Hooters.’ So people love that. I’m doing that joke as kind of a little button to my new act and the whole audience is yelling with me, ‘I have never…’ It’s just so cool, it’s really neat…. She knows that she, you know, she’s got a little cheekiness to her, she’s in on it for sure. But I will take stories that she tells me and then I like, you know, amp them up for the stage. I mean, I’m doing one joke right now where it is just verbatim, a phone call from her. So she’s funny and I definitely get that, you know, sense of silliness from her.”
