Throwback Thursday: When Elton John (then married to a woman) and Cher helped Joan Rivers launch her TV show

The late night show that Joan Rivers launched after her fiery exit from The Tonight Show didn’t last very long (about year on Fox) but it sure got off to a sensational start.

The debut show in 1986 had as its guests Cher, Elton John, PeeWee Herman and David Lee Roth. I was in college and remember watching it on my little black and white TV!

But I have not seen it in years and while the Bitch is Back sing-a-long with Elton, Cher and Joan is fun, watching the interview is fascinating because at the time Elton was married to a woman! And Cher talks a bit about her kids and the fashion choices of daughter Chastity who is now her son Chaz.
