Rufus Wainwright got the chance to meet Benedict Cumberbatch while recording the BBC’s The Shakespeare Show: Recorded Live from the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Wainwright was not left with any doubt that Cumberbatch is a total pro and a plenty nice guy.

It’s just The Imitation Game star’s looks that Wainwright got a bit confused about.

‘I’ve hung out with Benedict a couple of times. He’s… he’s quite the figure’, Wainwright tells PrideSource.

‘Most amazing thing is, I can’t tell if he’s gorgeous or incredibly ugly. (Laughs) It’s a weird combination.

‘ At certain angles he looks like my aunt, and then at certain angles he looks the man who’s gonna ruin my marriage.’

Whichever end of the looks spectrum Wainwright finally decides Cumberbatch falls on, the 42-year-old gay singer admits he is a shameless flirt and likes to flirt even when it comes to straight guys.

‘I’m just built that way,’ he says. ‘I’m sort of a gay Elizabeth Taylor.’
